Welcome to the Hope
Street Markets Website!

Welcome to the Hope Street Markets Website! We are a design and art markets event held seasonally, that celebrate and bring independent designers to the forefront - we are not your average markets!

4th June 2008 - Web update

We have successfully rounded up our 4th Hope Street Markets. The Autumn Markets weekend in May was a complete success and we raised $2,741 for HopeStreet's Winter Appeal - which goes to support Sydney's Homeless.

For those that missed out, see our gallery for images of the markets.

For now we wish you all a great Winter, unfortunately we will not be running a Winter market this year but you can expect to hear more news from us in a couple of months with any new dates.

In the mean time keep connected with us via our mailing list.

Beattie by Beattie Lanser.

What do you make? Tell us about your product!

She makes clothes for men and women. Good fabrics...good prints...good design... good colours.

What's your creative background, your day job and how did you start making things?

In the past Beattie went to uni and studied fashion and textiles. After a stint of Sydney Fashion and then the world of shirts in London she got into furniture in Surry Hills. But her dream was always to be designing and making her own clothes. Funnily enough Beattie was born  in a pizza restaurant in Melbourne in 2007.

What are the things you find most inspiring?

She thinks her friends are pretty cool and loves the old art of textile printing and hand work. I suppose she thinks craft is pretty cool. She loves music and art and the sea. In fact she would quite happily sail off into the sunset on a yacht with a pair of knitting needles.

Where is your workspace and what is it like?

She sews in a little front room with a dog called Gladys on the beaches of Sydney.

Why did you choose Hope Street Markets?

Hope Street is not only full of Hope but also full of inspiring people doing things that she finds exciting and brave. She wanted to be a part of it!

Where would you like your art/brand to be in the future??

Beattie would like to be worn by people in the home and on the street.

Where can we buy your stuff?

Beattie is at Sundry Market, in the mail and stocked at the very lovely
Fairbairn Man + Woman - William Street, Paddington.
