Welcome to the Hope Street Markets Website! We are a design and art markets event held seasonally, that celebrate and bring independent designers to the forefront - we are not your average markets!
We have successfully rounded up our 4th Hope Street Markets.
The Autumn Markets weekend in May was a complete success and we raised
$2,741 for HopeStreet's Winter Appeal - which goes to support Sydney's Homeless.
For those that missed out, see our gallery for images of the markets.
For now we wish you all a great Winter, unfortunately we will not be
running a Winter market this year but you can expect to hear more news from
us in a couple of months with any new dates.
In the mean time keep connected with us via our mailing list.

I make jewellery and accessories using a range of materials. In the past I have incorporated leather, paper, lino, fabric, plastics with metals to make functional wearables. At the Autumn markets I will make a range of felt pieces.
I have always been quite keen to play with materials and to see what comes of it. After years of dabbling with various materials at home and doing a few short courses, I studied jewellery and object design at the Enmore design centre.
I like finding a starting point in visuals, whether it be in pictures, landscapes or objects themselves. However, I think my real inspiration comes from playing with materials. The best things I've created usually start as big messes and lots of self doubt. Trying to figure out how to manipulate a material to do what I want. Mistakes and design resolutions are my greatest inspiration.
I work from home and although I have a workshop in the backyard I have now taken over an inside sunroom and am moving in on my partners studio upstairs. With my felt range I have also been using our kitchen sink alot too. I am terrible at keeping my space contained and like to move around as I work.
I like the freshness of Hope Street. Sydney is particulary scarce of new design. Attempts to present "new" design generally is an avenue to market same or similar ideas that have been regurgitated. It also seems to be purely a commercial venture. I like that Hope Street acts more like a forum for design and new ideas where designers can come together and see what others are doing.
To be honest I think my laziness and fear of "self marketing" prevents my brand from being much more than a home style production unit pulling out new designs every now and again that hopefully appeal to some people. I think I will leave world domination to someone else.
