Welcome to the Hope
Street Markets Website!

Welcome to the Hope Street Markets Website! We are a design and art markets event held seasonally, that celebrate and bring independent designers to the forefront - we are not your average markets!

4th June 2008 - Web update

We have successfully rounded up our 4th Hope Street Markets. The Autumn Markets weekend in May was a complete success and we raised $2,741 for HopeStreet's Winter Appeal - which goes to support Sydney's Homeless.

For those that missed out, see our gallery for images of the markets.

For now we wish you all a great Winter, unfortunately we will not be running a Winter market this year but you can expect to hear more news from us in a couple of months with any new dates.

In the mean time keep connected with us via our mailing list.

What do you make? Tell us about your product!

Local by Chris Cheng was born out of love of illustrations and appreciation for quality and fit. IT is a handcrafted Tee range with nod to Arts' sake.

The brand features Chris's signature Angel wing tee. Chris’s range specialises in treatments and applications to cotton.
The range is set to grow to include Mens and Womens [Unisex] conceptual pieces & handmade Accessories.

What's your creative background, your day job and how did you start making things?

I am currently studying at Sydney Institute of TAFE - St. George, Fashion Design & Business.
Began with doing projects of Love; drawing which lead to creating tees - that are classic with a twist.

What are the things you find most inspiring?

Things that inspire me include; History, ART - Romanticism in particular, High Fashion, Music.
And always People my family, friends and strangers.

Where is your workspace and what is it like?

The workspace is organised chaos, working from home is comfortable, allowing me to let my mind go..
A play on curious mind can be to beautiful effect.

Why did you choose Hope Street Markets?

I chose HSM for the creative energy that surrounds & direction that it takes. Like attracts like... and I liked.

Where would you like your brand to be in the future?

Near completion of studies would like to grow the brand to feature a Conceptual unisex line along with Demi Couture inspired pieces - Chris Cheng [DC] / Label.

Where can we buy your stuff?
