Welcome to the Hope
Street Markets Website!

Welcome to the Hope Street Markets Website! We are a design and art markets event held seasonally, that celebrate and bring independent designers to the forefront - we are not your average markets!

4th June 2008 - Web update

We have successfully rounded up our 4th Hope Street Markets. The Autumn Markets weekend in May was a complete success and we raised $2,741 for HopeStreet's Winter Appeal - which goes to support Sydney's Homeless.

For those that missed out, see our gallery for images of the markets.

For now we wish you all a great Winter, unfortunately we will not be running a Winter market this year but you can expect to hear more news from us in a couple of months with any new dates.

In the mean time keep connected with us via our mailing list.

Fuzz Design Workshop by Carmel

What do you make? Tell us about your product!

If you haven’t become acquainted with Fuzz Design yet, it’s likely you will very soon. Chances are somebody you know owns and loves their very own piece of Fuzz.

Continuing to use materials such as Perspex teamed with gold and matt black chain and animal motifs Fuzz has created some spectacular cuffs and fluorescent pendants that re-interpret classic styles.
Not simply wanting to become just a jewellery label this year, Fuzz has ventured into a broader range of accessories as Fuzz is a true believer in the power of the accessory to enhance a look or style. Whether that be adorning your nails with one of their nail colours or adding one of their striking lame scarves to an outfit for stylish effect.

Quirky, whimsical and opulent; Fuzz earrings, chains and oversized pendants celebrate the happy and positive side of life with bold, colourful beautifully detailed forms.

What's your creative background, your day job and how did you start making things?

Coming to us straight from the creative mind of Carmel Taylor, Fuzz began Sydney after Carmel’s stint at the Enmore Design Centre where she studied Product Design and Development. The Fuzz brand had its beginnings in quirky Homeware and Stationary but has now morphed into an accessories brand as this is where Carmel found her true calling.

What are the things you find most inspiring?

Carmel has a real interest in popular culture and derives a lot of inspiration from creatives across a broad range of disciplines including music, art, stenciling, graffiti art, dance and fashion.

Art deco and nouveau, Victoriana and fanciful baroque influences are also present in Fuzz pieces. With Fuzz pieces you can expect cheeky twists, attracting edgy clients and those of you who like to stay ahead of the fashion crowd.

Where would you like your brand to be in the future?

Her vision is to create an accessories brand that reflects good design, meeting the needs of trend focused customers and is accessible to all. Fuzz has now developed somewhat of a cult following selling to boutiques worldwide and to individual shoppers through their online store.

As Carmel says “selling online and engaging with customers through social networking sites such as my space allows real customer interaction with the brand and is becoming a driving force in our creativity.”
