Welcome to the Hope Street Markets Website! We are a design and art markets event held seasonally, that celebrate and bring independent designers to the forefront - we are not your average markets!
We have successfully rounded up our 4th Hope Street Markets.
The Autumn Markets weekend in May was a complete success and we raised
$2,741 for HopeStreet's Winter Appeal - which goes to support Sydney's Homeless.
For those that missed out, see our gallery for images of the markets.
For now we wish you all a great Winter, unfortunately we will not be
running a Winter market this year but you can expect to hear more news from
us in a couple of months with any new dates.
In the mean time keep connected with us via our mailing list.

Heartbreaker is a fun-loving clothing and accessories label that is heavily inspired by the out-of-this-world fashion, music, and movies of the 80s, as well as kitsch, decadent eras in history, eccentric old ladies, and teenage nostalgia. All items are handmade with a focus on bold, bright statements and unique one-of-a-kind pieces. Heartbreaker treats include metallic balloon bags, polka-dot crop tops, oversized bow brooches, 90s mini skirts, bedazzled scrunchies, heart-shaped wrist cuffs, ice cream pendants, mis-matched earring sets, and glamorous turban headbands.
I started making things at an early age, learning mostly everything from my mother - the craft queen. What started off as haphazardly sewn creations from the scrap bag evolved into custom made outfits for me and all my friends, elaborate craft clubs, choc-a-bloc pen pal parcels filled with drawings and secret code messages, and eventually a degree in Printmaking at the Canberra School of Art. After University I started focussing more on my interests in fashion, and Heartbreaker was born! I now juggle work on my evolving label with a part-time job at UNSW (to pay the bills).
Kittens, stripes, gold, precious jewels, costume jewelery, Jem and the Holograms, the Brat Pack, outfits worn by 80s singers like Stacey Q, Debbie Gibson, and Stevie Nicks, Romance Was Born, op shopping, polka dots, dessert, cupcakes, tea sets, oversized bottles of perfume, pastel, gift boxes, Marie Antoinette, Richard Nicholl, red lipstick, hearts (the shape not the organ), Russh, mix tapes, metallics, trinkets, Q-Pot, dinner parties, Desperately Seeking Susan, mod, party decorations, BeDazzlers, the movie Mannequin, garage sales, collecting things, polaroids, period dramas, scented stationery, childrens drawings, parcels, castles, presents, wrapping things, playsuits, Disney Couture, 90210 esp. Dylan, fake food, chunky heels, bows, dressing up, letter writing, kitsch playthings, Jenny Kee, old school Biba, mystery.
My workspace takes up half of the living room in the flat I share with my boyfriend in Newtown. It is constantly ramshackle, overflowing, and threatening to take over the rest of our house! There is pastel everywhere; stray pom poms litter the floor and brightly coloured 80s toys crowd every available surface. There is always a half-finished project strewn across my little pink desk and lethal sewing needles can often be found jutting unsuspectingly out of the arm chair or sofa..it's chaos, I love it!
My biggest goal is to open my own boutique, reminiscent of the early days of Biba or Bazaar. It would be the most amazing shop stocking all my Heartbreaker wares and filled with all my favourite trinkets and ornaments. In the short term I would love to have some local stockists and build up my online presence!
I am currently looking for some local stockists, but you can buy my wares from my online store at http://weheartheartbreaker.com. There is also a smaller selection of goods on Etsy at http://weheartheartbreaker.etsy.com. I sometimes sell Heartbreaker at markets like Surry Hills and Glebe also, and of course, Hopestreet Markets!
