Welcome to the Hope
Street Markets Website!

Welcome to the Hope Street Markets Website! We are a design and art markets event held seasonally, that celebrate and bring independent designers to the forefront - we are not your average markets!

4th June 2008 - Web update

We have successfully rounded up our 4th Hope Street Markets. The Autumn Markets weekend in May was a complete success and we raised $2,741 for HopeStreet's Winter Appeal - which goes to support Sydney's Homeless.

For those that missed out, see our gallery for images of the markets.

For now we wish you all a great Winter, unfortunately we will not be running a Winter market this year but you can expect to hear more news from us in a couple of months with any new dates.

In the mean time keep connected with us via our mailing list.

What do you make? Tell us about your product!

Photographs with an Indie edge… currently I specialise in live music, social and performance photography, although I've recently been getting more into studio work.

What's your creative background, your day job and how did you start making things?

I come from a classical ballet background originally, where I found myself taking photos of my friends performing, rehearsing and partying. When injury prevented me from pursuing a career in dance I realised instantly that photography was something I had always gravitated towards… so I went for it, moved to Sydney from Brisbane and it just grew from there.

What are the things you find most inspiring?

My friends and peers! I love the challenge of trying to capture a piece of someone's emotional or artistic personality within my photographs. Shooting bands whose work I know intimately is another example of this… I'm forever attempting to translate bands/musicians specific 'sounds' into visual form.

Where is your workspace and what is it like?

I find myself shooting anywhere and everywhere as well as spending a lot of time in live music venues, both onstage and behind the scenes. As a predominately digital photographer I have a workspace set up at home… my Mac lives on a giant architect’s desk that has been described by more than one visitor as INTENSE.

Why did you choose Hope Street Markets?

I was lucky enough to be approached to take part by the Artistic Liaison at my most recent exhibition and am very flattered an honoured to be involved.

Where would you like your art/brand to be in the future?

Eventually I would love to branch into photojournalism, basing myself in different cities in order to compile photographic essays with particular focus on pop culture and related issues.

Where can we buy your stuff?

jessicacove@gmail.com - I am always looking for different subjects to photograph so feel free to email me with any freelance requests, purchase inquiries or artistic projects. Loves it.
