Welcome to the Hope
Street Markets Website!

Welcome to the Hope Street Markets Website! We are a design and art markets event held seasonally, that celebrate and bring independent designers to the forefront - we are not your average markets!

4th June 2008 - Web update

We have successfully rounded up our 4th Hope Street Markets. The Autumn Markets weekend in May was a complete success and we raised $2,741 for HopeStreet's Winter Appeal - which goes to support Sydney's Homeless.

For those that missed out, see our gallery for images of the markets.

For now we wish you all a great Winter, unfortunately we will not be running a Winter market this year but you can expect to hear more news from us in a couple of months with any new dates.

In the mean time keep connected with us via our mailing list.

What do you make? Tell us about your product!

Original lino-cut prints that depict the beauty of everyday life. I also have a line of greeting cards and some new hand-printed stationery products that I will be debuting at Hope Street Markets.

What's your creative background, your day job and how did you start making things?

I went to art school in Toronto, Canada for printmaking. Eventually I quit my safe but soul-sucking day-job in a doctors' office to start my creative business, which ended up being more than a full-time job!

What are the things you find most inspiring?

Simple things really - beauty in the natural and man-made world, human connection, fun things to do.

Where is your workspace and what is it like?

Currently my workspace is a designated table in my home where I design, draw, carve linoleum, and print images using my trusty wooden spoon. It's a very small-scale operation. Previous to moving to Sydney I had a whole huge room set up as my studio at home.

Why did you choose Hope Street Markets?

The whole presentation, from the logo and website to the interesting locations and 'specialness' of it being a once a season event seems to really represent unique and progressive design well.

Where would you like your art/brand to be in the future??

I have big plans for the future of my brand. In the near-future I am expanding my line to produce more products that interest me. Long-term dreams are of a flagship store filled with my products, and name recognition around the world!
