Welcome to the Hope Street Markets Website! We are a design and art markets event held seasonally, that celebrate and bring independent designers to the forefront - we are not your average markets!
4th June 2008 - Web update
We have successfully rounded up our 4th Hope Street Markets.
The Autumn Markets weekend in May was a complete success and we raised
$2,741 for HopeStreet's Winter Appeal - which goes to support Sydney's Homeless.
For those that missed out, see our gallery for images of the markets.
For now we wish you all a great Winter, unfortunately we will not be
running a Winter market this year but you can expect to hear more news from
us in a couple of months with any new dates.

What do you make? Tell us about your product!
Lilypad Designs produces a range of handcrafted accessories and cards inspired by both the traditional and playful contemporary Japanese design aesthetic. Products include journal pouches, coin purses, cushions and cards. The fabrics are selected for their rich colours, patterns and textures. The card designs are inspired by the beautiful patterns and motifs of Japanese Yuzen papers and origami.
What's your creative background, your day job and how did you start making things?
My creative background includes completing a digital design degree at uni and doing various short courses along the way. These have included: fabric printing, quilting and photography. My day job is web design and research. I have made things for as long as I can remember. These ranged from making bits and pieces for my dolls and bears, to drawing in my sketchbook, to making models of buildings inspired by my dad who was an architect.
What are the things you find most inspiring?
I’m inspired by the Japanese design aesthetic, retro style cartoons and illustrations, my environment, nature, my family and friends, and others who have fun and passion for what they do.
Where is your workspace and what is it like?
At the moment my workspace is my home studio. I’ve gradually taken over the living room with boxes of fabric and paper and books everywhere.
Why did you choose Hope Street Markets?
I chose the Hope Street Markets as it’s supporting a great charity, and it’s fresh, unique and fun.
Where would you like your art/brand to be in the future?
I’d like to see the brand marketed in independent fashion and design shops. The brand caters to customers who appreciate well-made handcrafted, unique, cute and playful accessories.
