Welcome to the Hope
Street Markets Website!

Welcome to the Hope Street Markets Website! We are a design and art markets event held seasonally, that celebrate and bring independent designers to the forefront - we are not your average markets!

4th June 2008 - Web update

We have successfully rounded up our 4th Hope Street Markets. The Autumn Markets weekend in May was a complete success and we raised $2,741 for HopeStreet's Winter Appeal - which goes to support Sydney's Homeless.

For those that missed out, see our gallery for images of the markets.

For now we wish you all a great Winter, unfortunately we will not be running a Winter market this year but you can expect to hear more news from us in a couple of months with any new dates.

In the mean time keep connected with us via our mailing list.

What do you make? Tell us about your product!

I make jewellery using silver which I hammer, and mark and shape and blacken and put it together with polished silver to see what happens. I love making earrings that move when they are worn and also make pendants and brooches.

What's your creative background, your day job and how did you start making things?

I studied jewellery design at the Design Centre Enmore. I had done some community college courses before this so that I knew that I wanted to study and learn more about jewellery making. I work part time in a day job that has nothing to do with jewellery!

What are the things you find most inspiring?

For a number of years I have been making jewellery that is inspired by the landscape but at the
moment I am just having fun putting shapes together.

Where is your workspace and what is it like?

My work space is in a room under our house. It looks out onto trees and on a sunny day it is the most beautiful place to be. It's not a large room but luckily jewellery doesn't need much space. My two dogs keep me company while I work.

Why did you choose Hope Street Markets?

I chose Hope St Markets because of the interesting designers that are there. It's great to be surrounded by such interesting work and know that the people selling the work are the people who designed and made it. I also think that it's a great opportunity to see how people respond to my work.

Where would you like your art/brand to be in the future??

I like making short runs of work as I like seeing how new designs work so I hope my brand will continue to move and change. I would love my work to be in design stores.

Where can we buy your stuff?

At the moment exclusively at Hope Street Markets.
