Welcome to the Hope
Street Markets Website!

Welcome to the Hope Street Markets Website! We are a design and art markets event held seasonally, that celebrate and bring independent designers to the forefront - we are not your average markets!

4th June 2008 - Web update

We have successfully rounded up our 4th Hope Street Markets. The Autumn Markets weekend in May was a complete success and we raised $2,741 for HopeStreet's Winter Appeal - which goes to support Sydney's Homeless.

For those that missed out, see our gallery for images of the markets.

For now we wish you all a great Winter, unfortunately we will not be running a Winter market this year but you can expect to hear more news from us in a couple of months with any new dates.

In the mean time keep connected with us via our mailing list.

What do you make? Tell us about your product!

I design and make contemporary jewellery, but for about a year now I’ve been totally immersed in the world of the Matryoshka doll. I love mixing the traditional shape of the doll with my kitsch/ tattoo style drawings covering them.

What's your creative background, your day job and how did you start making things?

I studied Jewellery and Object design at Enmore Design Centre, and work in Newtown at All Buttons Great and small.

What are the things you find most inspiring?

I am inspired my surrounding art and design community. My partners artwork, my friends artwork, and a variety of international artists such as Sylvia Ji, Damien Hirst, and Hermann Nitsch.

Where is your workspace and what is it like?

I share a large workshop in the heart of Newtown with three other jewelers and one painter, together we are called 'Painting the Roses'. We all have our own spaces, communal tools and machinery, a lounge area, and……a bar.

Why did you choose Hope Street Markets?

Hope Street Markets, has proven to be the largest, most committed event that celebrates art and design in Sydney, I would only miss it if I had to have surgery ;)

Where would you like your art/brand to be in the future?

I would really like to make more pieces suitable for gallery spaces, and to see my work in more independent shops around Australia.

Where can we buy your stuff?
