Welcome to the Hope
Street Markets Website!

Welcome to the Hope Street Markets Website! We are a design and art markets event held seasonally, that celebrate and bring independent designers to the forefront - we are not your average markets!

4th June 2008 - Web update

We have successfully rounded up our 4th Hope Street Markets. The Autumn Markets weekend in May was a complete success and we raised $2,741 for HopeStreet's Winter Appeal - which goes to support Sydney's Homeless.

For those that missed out, see our gallery for images of the markets.

For now we wish you all a great Winter, unfortunately we will not be running a Winter market this year but you can expect to hear more news from us in a couple of months with any new dates.

In the mean time keep connected with us via our mailing list.

Rebound Books by Natalie Crupi and Ben Mason.

What do you make? Tell us about your product!

Rebound Books are made with second hand novel covers and are filled with 100% recycled tree-free denim paper. Rebound Books rescue hard cover books and fill them with 100% recycled denim paper (completely tree-free) and bind them with a sturdy wire to create one of a kind blank journals. Each Rebound Book is hand made, each cover is unique, each page is hand cut and each binding is closed by hand.

What's your creative background, your day job and how did you start making things?

During the day, Natalie runs a publicity business with clients in the arts and music industries, and Ben is a childcare worker at a local Primary School and musician. We've been avid book collectors all our lives, so it was only natural to find something creative to do with the books we've been accumulating over the years!

What are the things you find most inspiring?

Old books, finding new uses for things.

Where is your workspace and what is it like?

The Rebound workshop is in our spare room, so we're rather close to work at all times! The workshop is mostly full of books and paper, along with some guillotines, binding machines, spools of wire and a little stereo to keep us moving while we work.

Why did you choose Hope Street Markets?

We're Melbourne based and wanted to bring our Rebound Books to Sydney!

Where would you like your art/brand to be in the future??

In the minds of folks who want a touch of nostalgia in their lives, who need spaces to be creative and who appreciate the handmade and fully recycled nature of Rebound Books.

Where can we buy your stuff?

Rebound Books are sold online at www.reboundbooks.net and we have a number of stockists in Sydney including Gleebooks in Glebe, Split Watermelon in Surry Hills, Zukini in Newtown, RUST in Avalon, and SCRAP in Holswoirthy, as well regional NSW including Honeybee in Newcastle, Catbird Gallery in Dungog, Gecoz in Bellingen and the Cottage Gallery in Griffith.
