Welcome to the Hope Street Markets Website! We are a design and art markets event held seasonally, that celebrate and bring independent designers to the forefront - we are not your average markets!
4th June 2008 - Web update
We have successfully rounded up our 4th Hope Street Markets.
The Autumn Markets weekend in May was a complete success and we raised
$2,741 for HopeStreet's Winter Appeal - which goes to support Sydney's Homeless.
For those that missed out, see our gallery for images of the markets.
For now we wish you all a great Winter, unfortunately we will not be
running a Winter market this year but you can expect to hear more news from
us in a couple of months with any new dates.

What do you make? Tell us about your product!
We make pretty things for pretty hearted people, beginning with our retro inspired bathers and Including our dope dresses and sweet skirts that all the cool kids will want. As well as our killer hoodies, and tight tights to keep Jack Frost at bay and not excluding all the other tid-bits like tee's for the lads and the lasses and fresh high waisted collots, and finally concluding that all pieces are one of a kind and made in Australia with sanoii + six love!
What's your creative background, your day job and how did you start making things?
We met studying, we both kind of fell into the whole clothing/textile diploma thing. We clicked when we noticed we were both sort of random and crazy and decided we would move away to sunnier shores, that's where we decided we wanted to make swimwear, then the ideas and fabrics and colours and characters kept coming and pretty soon we had a range of clothes too!
What are the things you find most inspiring?
We try to see the funny side in most things and almost everything turns into a joke, and I think this is reflected in the pieces we make. All the pieces are bright and colourful, usually in some random outdated fabric that we happen to come across. Pieces usually come about when we have to go somewhere and have nothing to wear and no money to spend, and it might work well and then we'll be like "hey let's add that to the collection." other pieces are dreamt up after being inspired by some kooky character that we have become obsessed with, like the Vince Noir (Mighty Boosh) stage or the Donna (Beverly Hills 90210) stage. As well as our real life referee's, we're always checking out internet 'IT' girls Sarah Morrison and Cory Kennedy they just keep surprising, as well as the unmistakingly cool Mary Kate Olsen.
Where is your workspace and what is it like?
Our workspace is in a cosy little paradise you'll probably never find. It’s usually covered in fabric and notions with the music blaring. It’s freezing in winter and literally a sweat box in summer!
Why did you choose Hope Street Markets?
We were introduced to it by our dear friend Amanda, she always one step ahead and has the best ideas! We attempted the summer markets but were a little unsure as to what to expect as we'd never stepped foot in a Hope Street Market before! We had so much fun and became so inspired by all the creative little souls that we decided to jump in for Round 2!
Where would you like your art/brand to be in the future??
We would love to live off our business and all the hard work we put in to it, to be stocked nationally and hopefully someday internationally, to employ someone else to do the sewing! and to just supply happy people with quality garments that are fun to wear!
