Welcome to the Hope Street Markets Website! We are a design and art markets event held seasonally, that celebrate and bring independent designers to the forefront - we are not your average markets!
We have successfully rounded up our 4th Hope Street Markets.
The Autumn Markets weekend in May was a complete success and we raised
$2,741 for HopeStreet's Winter Appeal - which goes to support Sydney's Homeless.
For those that missed out, see our gallery for images of the markets.
For now we wish you all a great Winter, unfortunately we will not be
running a Winter market this year but you can expect to hear more news from
us in a couple of months with any new dates.
In the mean time keep connected with us via our mailing list.

Scotatto brings to life gorgeous handmade shoes, bags and accessories. Reflecting in the abundant playfulness and innocence of Scotatto, is an adolescent quality which makes it instantly likeable; from the bold use of colours to the funny little creatures and art deco designs stitched upon the bags and purses. Each piece is one off a kind making them extra special.
What’s your creative background, your day job and how did you start making things?
I completed a two-year custom-made footwear course at TAFE in 2005. In my first year out I joined three other shoemakers in a communal workshop space and began to experiment with leather and shape and how far I could push detail on a shoe. Scotatto was born and has been my full time love ever since.
At the moment I’m into eccentricity and all that’s kitsch. I like finding quaint images from music boxes, children’s books or old record covers and creating intricate scenes of amusing happenings. For me it’s all in the detail, to the point where the intricacy is almost painstaking. I’m also inspired by the idea of treasure and finding it. I love scouring and hunting for something that’s special that wasn’t only bought but found and that was made so well in the first place that it’s lasted. A lot of my shoes were created using pieces that I stumbled across in opp shops or that had been given to me. This gives them their own little history and story. One of my favourite pairs were created using leather from old couch covers sold to me by an antique upholster. The leather has the character of years of being sat on and little patches of sun fade that create patterns on the upper. I finished the shoes with intricately hand stitched gold polka dot heels and on the vamps beautiful big 80’s clip on earings, which perch like Christmas decorations on a tree.
At the moment my bedroom is also my workspace, I’m not sure how healthy that is! Sometimes I wake up with tiny pieces of leather stuck to my face.
I would one day love to own my own little shop with sewing and making areas on site and a retail showroom full of gorgeous one off hand made delights. But for now I hope that when my bags and shoes find themselves owners that they fit like socks, turn a few heads and are worn until they fall apart.
