Welcome to the Hope
Street Markets Website!

Welcome to the Hope Street Markets Website! We are a design and art markets event held seasonally, that celebrate and bring independent designers to the forefront - we are not your average markets!

4th June 2008 - Web update

We have successfully rounded up our 4th Hope Street Markets. The Autumn Markets weekend in May was a complete success and we raised $2,741 for HopeStreet's Winter Appeal - which goes to support Sydney's Homeless.

For those that missed out, see our gallery for images of the markets.

For now we wish you all a great Winter, unfortunately we will not be running a Winter market this year but you can expect to hear more news from us in a couple of months with any new dates.

In the mean time keep connected with us via our mailing list.

Music featured this Autumn

Jordy Lane

www.myspace.com/jordylanemusic

Jordy Lane is a pop/electronic/folk solo artist fom Sydney. He has been described as 'reminiscent of acts such as The Postal Service and Clue To Kalo, but he often seems to rest in a very natural feeling middle ground between the two – somewhat subdued, but with enough hooks to keep the songs closer to pop territory than electronica.' Jordy on stage consists of guitar, keys, samples, glock, backing and live mixing. Kaity Fox has recently joined him on vocal and keys duties.

Kaity Fox

Kaity Fox is a '60s folk singer somehow lost in the 21st century. There is an earthy, sweetness to her voice and an honesty about her songwriting. Her Karen Dalton-esque tone is complimented by simple broken guitar chords. Her thoughtful lyrics and unique choice of cover songs set her apart as a unique Sydney artist.

Hazzy B

www.myspace.com/hazzybee

My name is Harry. My mum calls me Hazzy Bee. I write songs about love, unrequited love, requited love, lost love and so on and so  forth. I also draw pictures. Sometimes I put those pictures up on the street, just so on your way home you might think of me.

And then to bed...

And then to bed, is a one man band created by a girl named Phoebe. Drawing inspirations from her love for all creatures, and her adolescent battered heart, And then to bed brings you cheery, and ironically miserable tunes. Picking up her guitar at times of desperation, And then to bed will get you, one way or another.

Red Ghost

Sydney artist Red Ghost (aka Rosa Agostino) spawns a raw, dark and brooding sound that weaves together her influences of blues, folk, jazz and rock. Her music is written and recorded as a means of clearing her mind - a mind full of wonder, thought and question. Songs of reveries and recollection, which were once held close and dear, are now delivered with primal urgency. And they’re calling out for you.

The Falls

www.myspace.com/musicfromthefalls

"The Falls present a half dozen beautifully executed acoustic-based variations on this debut EP. It's as much in the thoughtful arrangements and simple mix of instruments as the gorgeous melodies, shimmering harmonies, occasionally heartbreaking vocal delivery and the obvious joy the two songwriters exhibit in making this music, that makes it an almost perfect pop package." - Michael Smith (Drum Media)

Paul Ugov

www.myspace.com/paulugov

Paul Ugov is an up and coming blues 'n' roots artist who is slowly turning his music into a full time preoccupation. Having opened for such notable groups like Microphobia, Kage', Suburbanite and Release, Paul is hoping to expand on his fanbase to headline his own shows in the coming months.
